The most expensive trip I have every taken, took this trip with my wife, she always to go to Hawaii. Plus her cousin lived in Kaua'l. Was able to get a reasonable 2 star motel resevations, and a rental car for the ten days. Was able to travel the whole Big Island or Hawaii. I didn't plan for the cost of two round-trip plane tickets from Hawaii to Kaua
